Pasta Dinner

WHO: Runners and Coaches only. This is not a family event
WHERE: Devereux Downs Neighborhood Pool, 1016 Devereux Chase, Roswell, GA 30075
WHEN: Immediately following practice on Wednesday, September 9, 2015. Runners are typically ready for pickup by about 7:15.
DETAILS: Coach Evans has mapped the run on Wednesday to end at the address above— runners will arrive at the location ready to feast on a fabulous Pasta Meal and socialize with the team. Runners who want to swim should bring a swimsuit and towel. BACKPACKS and bags will be taken from the school to the Devereux Downs clubhouse by a parent volunteer

MIZUNO COVERED BRIDGE (home meet, Sept 12, 2015, Garrard Landing Park)
We are still in need of about 20 parents who can volunteer at the Covered Bridge meet. We have more than 80 families with runners on our team and only about 40 families have volunteered to help (many of these families have more than one volunteer). We need everyone’s help. This year’s RHS XC home meet, Mizuno Covered Bridge, is being held at Garrard Landing Park on September 12, 2015. This is the only fundraiser for our team. We don’t ask runners trot around their neighborhoods selling Hornet cards or candles or grapefruit or chocolate bars. This one-and-done event for fundraising requires the participation of all XC families.

Our Covered Bridge Committee has been working since early March to make this meet our best ever. Now, we need the help of everyone. A number positions still need to be filled to make our event a success.

Below is the link to sign up for various positions (parking attendants, chute monitors, course monitors, admissions, concessions). Those who have already volunteered (thanks!) are already on the list. (Please check the link to confirm you are signed up).

Also included on the Sign Up Genius page is a listing of items we’d like to borrow (tables, chairs, tents) for the race.

Friday practice (August 28) is on the track a 6:00AM, and will be finished at 7:00AM

INFORMATION for Saturday’s meet (August 29) : Saucony Battle of Atlanta

The bus will leave at 5:30AM on Saturday from the RHS senior parking lot. Bus will leave without runners who are late. The kids need to bring money for lunch since team will stop at the Dwarf House (Chick Fil A) on the way back. Bus will probably be back around 2:00PM. The kids will also need to bring a snack to eat before/after running.

All runners on the RHS XC team will be running this race, unless injured. See the (long) list below that indicates which race your runner is running. The race director may still make changes to race times. Please check the official page at ga.milesplit.com (link below) on Friday. Coach Evans may make slight changes to races being run (your runner will know if his or her race (V, JV5K or JV3K) changes). Please be sure to check with your runner on Friday night for race changes.

The bus leaves RHS senior lot at 6:00AM, runners must be there at 5:45. All runners are expected to ride the team bus to and from the race.

Not all runners on the RHS XC team will be running this race. Please see full listing at bottom of this announcement for names of varsity and JV runners who will be participating on Saturday.

Three items related to time trials:

1. We are asking each family to bring (to the time trials) a donation of 2 cases of water (this will be used for our home meet and fundraiser, Covered Bridge, to be held Sept 12 at Garrard Landing Park)

1. Seating at the picnic area is limited and it’s suggested that families bring folding chairs and/or blankets

1. Student drivers are to leave the school immediately after the last bell and go directly to Don White Memorial Park. Students who need transportation to the river will ride the bus down. There will be NO return transportation. If a runner’s family is not attending the picnic, that runner needs to find a ride home! Please arrange this ahead of time. Bus will leave the senior parking lot at 3:45 p.m. DO NOT change clothes before getting on the bus. If you miss the bus to the river, you will have to find another way to get there. Bus will not wait for anyone.
