More volunteers needed for Covered Bridge!!!

Posted by Joan McCarty at Aug 29, 2014 4:59AM PDT

Hey Everyone -

Our Covered Bridge “home” meet is scheduled for the morning of September 6, 2014, at Garrards Landing Park on Holcomb Bridge Road.

It takes a lot of volunteers to have a successful meet and fundraiser (we do not have any other fundraisers during the year).

We still need about 25 volunteers for various positions.

I’m asking those families who have not yet had a chance, to review the open slots and to please sign up.

The meet is a week away and Lead volunteers in the various areas will be contacting you next week with specific instructions for your area.

If you have questions about the meet, about a particular volunteer position, about Sign Up Genius, or anything else, please email me at joanmccarty@charter.net

Here’s the link to Sign Up Genius:

Thanks in advance for all of your support!!

Go Hornets!

Saturday, September 6, 2014 is our annual “home” cross country home meet and fund raiser. In order for us to successfully run the meet, we need many volunteers. *Please go to the Sign-Up Genius link below to volunteer. * Once we have all the slots filled, the lead volunteers will be contacting their group of volunteers with more specific details.

Each year we also get sponsors for our team and for the Covered Bridge. Please consider asking local businesses that you patronize to sponsor our team. Any amount of sponsorship is appreciated. Attached to this announcement is the sponsorship form you can take with you when asking for a donation. You can also find it under “links” (the left side of the page).

We do not engage in other fund-raising activities during the year: no TasteFest, no selling candles, no selling anything door-to-door. If everyone pitches in and volunteers and gets at least one sponsor, our team will have enough money to purchase the equipment and provide the activities and programs that the kids enjoy during the season.

If you have questions, contact Joan McCarty at joanmccarty@charter.net

Stage Races

Posted by David Evans at Aug 23, 2014 11:45AM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Congratulations to the Roswell Runners who competed in the Stage Races Sat. Despite hot conditions, there were several outstanding performances including Rachel VanAmburg 2nd in the varsity stage 2, Kara Coulter, 7th in varisty stage 3, and Owen McCarty 5th in JV stage 1.
Many runners set cross country PR’s for the 2 mile including Owen McCarty, Gavin Hudnall, Davis Tariff, Dylan Gelobter, Justin Moore, Matt Scully, Paddy McGregor, Blake Washburn, Dakota Tester, and Bryce Lyons for the boys. For the girls, Rachel VanAmburg, Sunshine Flamer, Ava Stovall, Lauren Fuller, Meghan Hashemi, Cathleen Mellor, Emely Cabrales, Larua Rush, Jane Claire Rittmeyer, and Emela Sandreyer all had personal best in cross country 2 mile.
Thanks to all the parents who came to support the team, it certainly makes a difference when you are there to cheer on the runners.
Our next race will be our own Covered Bridge Run on Sept 6. There will be no formal practice next weekend until Tuesday, although I’ll have a Sunday run for runners and parents if they want to join me at the river.
Varsity and JV runners for Covered Bridge will be based on the new rankings below.

Water! Water! Water!

Posted by Roswell High School Cross Country at Aug 22, 2014 9:58AM PDT

Additional cases of water are needed for the Covered Bridge meet. We collected around 30 cases and that means we’re a little less than half way to what we need.

The Covered Bridge Planning Committee would like to call, once again, on the good will of our families and ask if those who didn’t get a chance to bring water to the Time Trials could bring a case of water to practice next week.

If there are families out there who donated a case already and would like to donate another, we’d be grateful.

Please bring the water to pick-up after practice on Tuesday or Wednesday next week (8/26, 8/27). That way we can have the kids carry it to the shed where we’re storing our equipment for transport to the meet.

Thanks, as always!
