News and Announcements

For planning purposes, we’d like to make all XC families aware of the plans for this summer. This year our XC team will be participating in two camps. Runners can go to both or either one.

For those runners who want to take their running to a higher level, RHS XC will participate in the Jim Ryun Running Camp July 12-17 at Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg, VA. This is an elite training camp focused on developing the total runner. Campers will learn how to apply racing and training strategies. Instructors for this camp include Dr. Jack Daniels, considered one of the best running coaches in the world.

Cost for the Jim Ryun camp is tentatively set at $650 per runner. This amount is tentative because depending upon the number of runners we have going, the cost will change. As well, we’re still trying to figure out the transportation needs.

Top 15 boys and girls runners should strongly consider attending this camp. Coach Evans will be attending with the team. This is not an exclusive event and all XC runners interested in improving their performance are encouraged and invited to attend.

The second camp is July 26-29th at Great Mountain Retreats and Adventures in Copperhill, TN. This is our traditional summer team-building camp and all XC members are encouraged to attend. Cost for this camp is tentatively set at $185 per runner. Facilities include a lake for swimming (with a blob and a swing!) Activities will include white water rafting on the Ocoee River.

More information will be available on both camps (including final costs) as we near the end of the school year. If you have any questions, please contact Joan McCarty at joanmccarty@charter.net

The College Recruiting Seminar scheduled for tonight at 6:15pm with the Roswell Coaching Staff and at 7:30pm with Students and Parents has been cancelled due to school being closed.

There will be a seminar on the recruitment of high school athletes for college programs on Thursday, February 26, 2015, at 7:30 in the RHS cafeteria. This seminar is open to all athletes and parents grades 8 – 12.

Rick and Coy Wire, a father–son team, present an entertaining and informative session on college recruiting for student-athletes. Coy Wire played football at Stanford University and in the NFL, most recently with the Atlanta Falcons.

While the presenters have experience with football recruitment, this seminar is about all sports for males and females at all levels of college play, i.e., Division I, Division II, NAIA, Division III and Junior Colleges.

Look forward to seeing you next Thursday February 26, 2015.

Attached is a flyer for this event.
